Baking is a popular occupation throughout Portugal. Everywhere visitors will find "Pastelerias" (Cake Shops) with a choice of items which most often exhibit the most popular locally made varieties alongside some national favourites. Most cafés usually have a display cabinet with a limited selection for clients to consume with their coffee or tea.
