ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE OF CÔA

The site provides information on the Côa archaeological find now a National Park of great archaeological importance. The website gives details of Park procedures, how to get there and what to see. An historic overview of the park, pictures and pre-historic artefacts can also be accessed.

ARCHAEOLOGICAL ASSOCIATION OF THE ALGARVE
An association formed in 1983 by a group of international interested in archaeology in the Algarve. It has been constituted as a non-profit making charitable institution for the promotion of archaeology in Portugal. In the Year 2008, the AAA celebrated its 25th anniversary.

This site is very user friendly and provides information on camp sites in Portugal. To search for camp sites select a region. It gives directions on how to get to your location and provides information on camp facilities. Details on caravan, tent, mobile home and equipment rental are also available. CULTURAL CENTRE
The site offers information on Portugal’s most prestigious State Cultural Centre which is located in Belém. A detailed programme of events taking place at the centre can be accessed by downloading a PDF file in the English language.

RAILWAYS
The official website for the Portuguese railway system. It provides information on types of trains, train schedules and train services. The search engine on each menu enables the visitor to access information on train itineraries, and select points and times of departure and arrival and the time which each journey will take. Some menus are in the Portuguese language but there is a connection to an English version at the bottom of each page. On-line booking is not available.

RIVER TAGUS FERRIES
This site provides information on ferry crossings over the River Tagus. Information on river cruises is also available but reservations cannot be made on-line. The Portuguese version is more detailed than the limited English one which provides information on ferry routes, timetables and ticket prices.

A site providing details about Port Wine and the Douro region in which it is produced. To access information about wineries, Port Wine lodges in Vila Nova de Gaia and port tasting venues ( Porto, Lisbon and Regua), click on the menu item "Tourism and Gastronomy". Initial information is in English but details of wineries are still only available in the Portuguese language.

This site gives information on the Vinho Verde wine region, its history, local traditions, wine and its winemaking. A map showing the location of each winery can be accessed by clicking on the ‘Rota dos Vinhos Verdes’ icon. One can then click on any winery featured on the map for information and details of visiting hours and instructions on how to get there. Information on the surrounding area is also given.
