Douro (DOC)
This region through which the Rio Douro runs down to Porto produces very little red and white wine for domestic consumption as its grapes are reserved for the making of Port. The red wine from the grape variety "Touriga Nacional" can vary from a Claret variety to a Burgundy. The white wine tends to be delightfully fresh and fruity. Some labels that are available are Acácio, Auster, Àzeo, Barca Velho, Batuta, Callabriga, Campo Ardosa, Casa Burmester, Casa Ferreirinha, Castello d'Alba, Charme, Chryseia, Côtto, Covela, Crasto, D'Ali Jób, Dona Berta, Duas Quintas, Evel, Floral, Fuseiro, Fronteira, Gloria, Gouvyas, Granjó, Imperium, ME & JBC, Morgado da Calçada, Pintas, Planalto, Poeira, Porca de Murça, Quinta da Gaivosa, Quinta de Cidró, Quinta do Côtto, Quinta da Crasto, Quinta da Gaivosa, Quinta da Gricha, Quinta da Leda, Quinta de Macedos, Quinta do Vallado, Quinta Portela da Vilariça, Quinta de la Rosa, Quinta de Roriz, Quinta de San Joanne, Quinta da Sequeira, Quinta de Teamonde, Quinta das Tecedeiras, Quinta Terra, Quinta da Touriga-Chã, Quinta do Vale D.
